Insurance is NOT the Prescription for American Poor Health

Public Safety / Public Health

…capitalism mutated in the very same way as we encouraged the banking industry to strip safeguards

Can you imagine if you had to be insured to receive basic police services?  How about clean water?  Sewer?  What if you dialed 911 and the operator asked you for your location and your 911 insurance code?  How did the American public become so disinterested and callous in only a few short very greedy years.  Once again, our flaws have seemed to overwhelm our instincts.  Even self-preservation and our natural desire to propogate the species seems to have been compromised to our own detriment.  Isn’t it unnatural for us to not be concerned with the health of all our neighbors – their well being.  How did we become cheerleaders against ourselves – humanity ?

Be very careful and very thorough when approaching this discussion.  The rules, the basis and the players have all changed.  When this discussion took place back in the 1960’s – the very same insurance companies that were prohibited from engaging in risky investments with their financial reserves were essentially providing a public service.  But alas, this is where American capitalism mutated in the very same way as we encouraged the banking industry to strip safeguards and effective regulation, such as Glass-Steagall.

Capitalism is a particularly useful economic tool.  It inspires great things and great philanthropy.  Unfortunately, there is a selflessness to philanthropy and charitable deeds that seems to have eluded many Americans.  While it is a great transition to move from selfishness to selflessness – the journey of the transition is a school unto itself.  Humility knowledge and the gift of discernment may in fact be the destination; however this is all as personal as prayer.  Our public practices are the product of this personal investment; and our business practices can be joyful in the fact that as capitalists and business owners we are part of a community of those that make our business run efficiently and profitably.   Whether a business owner, operator or employee … we all have the responsibility to contribute to the public welfare as well as for those around our own campfire.

This article doesn’t have sufficient literary real-estate to foot-note all the particulars so without apology we’ll aim for bold points.

Cui BonoWho benefits?

Shareholders, stakeholders and investors benefit.  And any departure from this financial turbine is described by the neo-con extreme rightists as a move toward Socialism.

This Latin phrase familiar to many means – ‘who benefits?’  Precisely.  Who benefits if our Health approach is saddled with not one, not two but three layers of profit for absolutely no value to the insured?  Who?  Well it is shamefully simple – the industries that have self-proclaimed they are essential to the delivery of health care – but actually – they deliver the illusion of health care and enormous amounts of red-tape and acrimony.  Millionaire doctors are common-place.  We’re not talking about upper middle class, respectable gentry – we’re talking millionaires in alarming disproportion to the ability of their customers to deliver that kind of wealth for services.

The answer to this puzzle is even more alarming.  Just imagine that a group of entrepreneurs managed to create a collective of physicians and hospitals and convince them that they could guarantee payment for performed services.  We’ll call them the health insurance group analysts.  Now imagine that small private and institution run hospitals are bought up by another entrepreneurial enterprise offering consolidation of services in order to increase profit and contain costs.  Sounds great, right? And then let’s round it off with yet another group that helps design and counsel physicians and hospitals in how to play the game.  The only thing we haven’t actually talked about yet is delivering health care to sick people – so far the discussion is only about money.  And there’s more to come.  Public offerings, new consolidators of health administration and create the fertile birth canal for an entirely new industry; that is, Medical Administrative Services companies whose primary deliverable is processing the voluminous medical insurance paperwork for corporate physicians.

Who benefits?  Shareholders, stakeholders and investors benefit.  And any departure from this financial turbine is described by the neo-con extreme rightists as a move toward Socialism. After all, the promotion of the public well-being has been removed from the very essence of corporate capitalism in stark contrast to its very reason for existing – so why not replace the beneficiaries of health system with shareholders instead of citizens.  The neo-cons and the convoluted agenda they promote have altered the course of modern society, backward to the 1920’s.  It appears the only public services left that haven’t been dismantled are Police, Fire, Water and Sewer – but not for the lack of trying.  In many enclaved real-estate developments around the country, insurance company underwritten private fire companies have been put into service.  They respond to fires of their insured – only.  Sound like the roaring 20’s?  Does it ring of ‘protection’ schemes during the height of the Volstead Act and other ancestors of the equally disturbing Patriot Act?

Debating / The Baiting

…and other buzz words that are the intellectual equivalent of knock-out drops are still the descriptive terms for the argument.  That is to say – the arguments they are having in the public forum have been crafted by the insurance industry.

The Argument for Basic Public Health – what the disrupters call Socialized Medicine – has never been stronger or more sensible.  Tragically though, half the support for the argument disappears because Progressives and Liberals have not been represented – graft free – through the Democratic Party.  The public may be “trusting” their Democratic President with unprecedented solidarity – but they are not as trusting of the Democratic Congress.  Much of this is the result of desperate Rightist pundits working the rope lines whenever and wherever possible.  Hillary Clinton was famously lampooned by ultra-rightists talking heads for her clumsy declaration of a ‘Vast Right Wing Conspiracy’ – but as history has revealed, there are plenty of Right Wing C0-dependents deserving of scrutiny and deposition, at the very least.

However, a significant amount of skepticism haunts Democrats and will continue to haunt them because of the public perception that they were nothing more than ‘eloquent shoulder-shruggers’  that argued vociferously during elections but actually accomplished little else during the 12 years, including 6 years of total American National Government madness.  The bulk of the screaming and dissent ultimately emanated from the Internet wired public. Very few voices in the Democratic Party were brave enough to live their convictions and distinguish themselves with articulate disagreement or simply brave fundamental disagreement.  Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis and Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, respectively, come to mind as demonstrative of some of the distinguished few.  And while there are more – most played it safely by putting on their war-paint for Kodak moments, while the public groundswell shook them up.  If nothing else, the Democratic Party went through some significant changes it hadn’t planned when many of the dinosaurs were retired during the last Democratic portion of the last Presidential contest.  So keep in mind – supporters of the President are admiring him for being a Republican and a Democratic dinosaur slayer, although Congress does not share that distinction.

Surely the endless stream of Congressional tidbits about entitlements, insurance reform and other buzz words that are the intellectual equivalent of knock-out drops are still the descriptive terms for the argument.  That is to say – the arguments they are having in the public forum have been crafted by the insurance industry.  They haven’t been crafted around American Health, yet we bought the bait and are fishing with it.   The simple fact is – the reason our health care is so expensive in this country is fundamental.  Unlike public safety, Police, Fire, Water, Sewer and other basic citizen’s services – health is for profit and the ultimate goal of the insurance companies is to minimize benefits and maximize profits. That might even work in a well running capitalistic economy, but that train is most demonstrably off-the-rails as well.

We have been, in effect, brain-washed into believing that our health system is requires insurance reform, when simply – no insurance would be the better solution.  A public health system serves everyone and if those of significant wealth chose to have private health services – the system would in no way prevent it.  Similarly, insurance fraud – one of the singularly most expensive non-return expenses of our health system, would essentially vanish.  The opportunity for young people to participate in community service by volunteering as part of National health programs could help end the reign of terror held over us by the collective avarice driven by the requirements of  ‘return-on-investment’ of  insurers and health services companies.

What’s the Prescription?

… recapture our self-respect and once again become brave good neighbors and partner with our brave young citizens who have put their healthy young blood on the line without question, while we have sat idle and permitted the looting of our treasury and over 55 years of international good-will and leadership.

It seems as though we need to finish the diagnosis in order to prescribe a fix.  But this becomes particularly difficult because Congress has made some startling assumptions.  That is to say, that by empowering only the parties that abused the system and engineered a health insurance paradigm that ostensibly circumnavigates accessible efficient health care – we’re in actuality only treating symptoms and not the underlying disease.  At the very least, this is an overwhelming deficit in our overall public safety and Homeland Security approach, which should be of paramount concern when talking about the overall health of Americans.

The health care reform discussion continually addresses improving the obfuscation as though there were legitimate solutions to be found, therein.  There haven’t been and will not be solutions by supporting an approach that at its roots is health-for-profit.  That would be as inane as suggesting that an alcoholic should be treated by changing brands of Gin.

We need to call-0ut the writers of the new public lexicon that have indoctrinated an alarming number of Americans in believing that a responsible functioning public health system is tantamount to Communism.  We need to demand that public figures be held accountable for their rhetoric and challenge those that have used their seat or office in Congress as a personal lobbying firm shilling for corporate interest instead of representing the public good as they promised by taking their Oath of Office.  So we must begin with ourselves.  Our understanding of health – preventative medicine – education – exercise – nutrition needs and enormous overhaul. But, equally important – we need to consider how insurance became the controlling factor in delivering health services.  After close historical and modern perusal, it is clear that these additional burdens to the pockets of Americans were designed out of greed, not an interest in protection as is suggested by aid or relief, but perhaps more in line with “protection” as in type of policies the Sopranos’ might offer their clients.

Here’s a prescription for another common unfortunate ailment – complacency:

  1. We recapture our initiative to think in private and practice in public.
  2. We stop promoting bad practices and stop habitually adopting talking points of broadcast ideologues that profit by misinforming the public and further profit by shilling for financial interests.
  3. We exercise our capitalistic right to withhold business from broadcast personalities that pretend to be journalists and actually engage not in commentary but in propaganda, even if inconvenient.
  4. We (many of us) must admit that we were willing accomplices and contributed to this mess by our actions or inactions.
  5. We take responsibility not only for the welfare of our families or those we hope to impress – we take responsibility to think on a larger scale than our personal comfort and thus improve our Nation.
  6. We take the time to know things that are important and stop making excuses because it takes time or interferes with our leisure.
  7. We recapture our self-respect and once again become brave good neighbors and partner with our brave young citizens who have put their healthy young blood on the line without question, while we have sat idle and permitted the looting of our treasury and over 55 years of international good-will and leadership.
  8. We do not live in fear and we practice rules of law – instead of languishing in rules of exception.

Health Care – Part 1 : The Financial Hypnosis

Briefly

“.. Health Insurance, uses actuarial studies but doesn’t actually deliver Insurance.”

This article is going to be a look at the transformation of what was an obvious and proven approach to health care and how, lobbyists, financial companies and politicians forced the public discussion in a different direction and convinced many Americans to cheer for a system that steals from them.   While this article is an overview – its focus is on how the discussion changed and why.

There are a few quick terms that need to be clarified:

1. Patient: A patient is someone that is suffering illness and requires, medical counsel, education or medical treatment.  For the purposes of this discussion, there is no illness associated with breast augmentation, lypo-suction, or any of the the other cosmetic procedures delivered through health care professionals.

2. Finance Co.: This is a company that refers to itself as Health Insurance, uses actuarial studies but doesn’t acutally deliver Insurance.  What the Finance Co. provides is the equivalent of a pre-paid telephone card – however, they have the right to increase the connection charge – on the fly, with little recourse to the patient.

3.  Medical Professionals:  Doctors, Nurses, Scientists, Medical Admin, Services and Support; including public health services (gov’t)

4.  Non-medical Professionals: Massage therapists, teachers, instructors, social service representatives, other public health services (gov’t)

5.  Non-Insurance Medical Providers: Kaiser-Permanente is the perfect example. We will refer to it in subsequent installments of this article.

How DId the Discussion Change from Health Care to Health Insurance?

“… drama in the waiting room, eerie reminders of pre-Civil Rights days in the deep South.”

Fifteen years ago, there was a National discussion about health care, and 20 years before that, there were similar discussions.  The hiatus was supplied by the Vietnam war, Richard Nixon’s struggle with the rules, the warm-up energy crisis and Oliver North’s homegrown foreign diplomacy. Scores of other distractions were spawned by America’s financial boom, a nice way to describe the national addiction to investing and exponential profits that we’ll further refer to as financial crack cocaine.

When the discussions re-started, they included everything from expanding the public health service to providing basic health care for Americans.  Not only basic health care but health education and preventive medicine.  As it is, there is no incentive for delivering preventative medicine in the insurance company dominated health system – yet there are numerous financial incentives for treating more and more illness.  In short, the system, as is, becomes more profitable for investors if the number of sick people rises.  The system by design is flawed.  Consider a private police department whose investors privately hope for higher crime or less public safety in order to increase profits.

Now consider that the cost of detectives is driven by market conditions, and the amount of attention they can dedicate to particular cases is based on the overall profit of those cases, determined by the Financial Co-op.  Public safety, no longer driving the results, the highest profit is realized when more and more cases are opened and crime is elevated, since the crime victim must pay, or pay through a Finance Co., for services.

So as you can see, for the purposes of Part One – we propose that Health Care is essentially the same as Public Safety, Public Water and Sewer, Public Works.  There is only one answer to how the discussion was altered and thereby further dividing classes of American citizens.  The most obvious being Insured and Uninsured.  While many may not see this as a ‘Class’ distinction – visit  Medical Professional company in your area and observe the drama in the waiting room, eerie reminders of pre-Civil Rights days in the deep South.

Pay Attention to Small Stuff

“… the payment was spread among the entire school population.”

For the purposes of this section of the article – we’re going to have to stick to practices and not specific people or companies.  While we have some excellent examples of specific people and companies that benefited greatly by redirecting the national discussion, we’ll save that for later chapters, with footnotes and research material.

Clearly, the changes were motivated by a new approach to economics.  After being indoctrinated with ‘free-market’ platitudes, even High School football teams were looking for revenue far beyond what booster clubs and community fund-drives could yield.  So the answer is appetite.  The American appetite for opportunity and great return.

When Junior High schools were selling real-estate to Coke and Pepsi so that they could line the halls with machines selling high fructose corn syrup laden carbonated drinks to children; we were trading public health for corporate finance.  While it paid for the illuminated scoreboard on the football field and much more updated uniforms and equipment, the payment was spread among the entire school population.

While on the surface it seems to be logical, there was a serious breech of both public health and the loco parentis care of our children of which public schools are charged.  But ‘the Beat goes on’ seemed more enticing than pedantic pleas of health professionals about force-feeding our youth sugary water.  And anyone that doesn’t believe that Soda dispensing machines strategically located throughout a public school isn’t force-feeding than we beckon a more suitable word.

Courting Independence

“… then you were going to get credit – big and fast.”

The financial appetite for return on investment permeated the atmosphere.  IRA’s abounded benefiting investors with deferred income tax and lower base taxes by lowering their taxable income.  It was all the talk at the supermarket, at the beauty parlor, at the VFW and at the golf course.  An entire generation of tax planners were armed with Texas Instruments printing calculators in order to show investors, just how many millions they would have at early ’80s interest rates of 12%.

These opportunities were not curtailed simply by the sudden drop in interest rates as the stock market began its first surge – because the SEC swung open the doors at the behest of the Reagan Administration to permit individuals to personally direct their retirement money into the risky equity markets.  Penny stocks abounded with the lucre of  Mom’s and Pop’s, although, much of it evaporated by the late 80’s as the equity markets – adjusted.  That’s what they call crashes because of uncontrolled financial growth – “adjustments”.  On the way up … they don’t call them anything, because no one can hear over the cheering.

Pick a Card – Any Card

“.. create a highly lucrative financial turbine of the insurance company.”

During this period of time, gasoline rose in price, food rose in price and health care rose in price.  A society stuck for a  ready cash with appetites further whetted by buying stocks and bonds on margin; they started abandoning the sound financial tenets of their roots and willingly accepted credit cards in the simple recruitment terms of the credit card companies.  Buying on credit was easy. It was certainly an analgesic to financial pain -moreover – the new American voracious appetite for  acquiring  more “stuff” wouldn’t be derailed because the disposable cash dried up.  Not for a second.  If you could prove that you were stupid enough to load up your retirement portfolio with Penny Stock get rich quick schemes and would be ‘market averaging’ for the next 100 years in order to get your principle back – then you were going to get credit – big and fast.

The Finance companies were watching and in the game.  They were buying up medical services companies and even hospitals through holding companies and even real estate trusts.  After all, if you are going to expand a business that collects money , shouldn’t you also own the companies that you ultimately pay.  In this way you can add the power of the check book while containing costs. Further,  by leveraging the assets of the holding company by selling it off to investors – the Finance Co. in actuality, creates a highly lucrative financial turbine from what appears to be an insurance company.  Ultimately, taking more in than it pays out,  the Finance company maintains high profitability by delivering less health care to the insureds.  In effect, they create a layer that in conclusion, does nothing but convert the massive buying power of an organized group, and convert it into investor profit instead of an actual comprehensive medical plan.  It’s very much like the new Electronic Scoreboard and the Soda machines.

Obama – Close the Deal? Journo-tainers Stir the Pot

– 25 April 2008, The Almost Daily Binx, San Jose, CA; by Binx101

“… played into the GOP’s hands by dividing and self-conquering. “

Popular television and cable news Journo-tainer Chris Matthews offered what he considered, solid sage advice for Barack Obama  at the close of Thursday’s edition of MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews.  We respectfully submit that Matthews needs to bone up a little on his political science and his reading comprehension.  He proposed that Obama would be taken more seriously if he shifted his conversation to taking on McCain and showing what a fighter he can be, just like Hillary.

We demur, despite Matthews’ popularity as a TV Journo-tainer, we respectfully submit that he’s once again fallen off-the-wagon and is making news instead of commenting on it, by manufacturing facts that aren’t facts.  The Democratic nomination process is still underway and as far as we can see – the divisions in the Democratic Party are causing the actual nomination process to be prolonged while they disenfranchise party supporters and have played into the GOP’s hands by dividing and self-conquering.  Barack Obama needs to take on Hillary in exactly the way he is – and the national figures will still favor him – despite the Clinton propaganda machine and “new math.”

“… drive-by paint-ball currently passing for journalism”

Obama isn’t Hillary, and apparently he does not find her style appealing or helpful.  However, we are certain, that if Hillary had determined that Obama’s style, as it were, could be helpful, she’d drop the screeching and nervous laugh and be enrolled in “cool” lessons faster than she was just heard invoking “Noth Caylina,” with her newly re-polished Pennsylvanian, New Yorkish, Ohioan, Arkansan drawl.

Matthews further conflated the facts when suggested that there were three(3) people running for President.  While we acknowledge the corporate Media elite (pardon the expression) would be gleeful for such an opportunity, the simple fact remains that the only person currently running for president – is John McCain.  The Democratic opponent has yet to be determined.  While a three (3) person race might be the corporate journo-tainers’ equivalent of a big-game safari, fully stocked with drugged animals for them to shoot it remains impossible.  For the time being  we’ll continue to suffer the drive-by paint-ball currently passing for journalism. (We do concede that Matthews certainly does understand but struggles to present the facts cogently in fulfillment of his corporate obligation to provide a boat load of fans and carloads of manure in which to hit them.)

“Obama, has not wavered very far from his message of hope.”

Barack Obama is not running for President.  He’s running to be the Democratic nominee.  There is a considerable difference in the latitude provided under the pretense of each.  There is limited opportunity to challenge John McCain while he’s seeking the nomination.  His opponent is Hillary Clinton.  She’s chosen to go for the nomination in what we consider,  the politics of the darkest Democratic past.  Obama, has not wavered very far from his message of hope.

Hillary Clinton has mocked hope as a dementia of the masses, mere wishful thinking and promised hard fisted fighting.  Barack Obama has repeated that citizens will make the difference and their involvement, while Hillary has either mocked his words or opted to incorporate them as needed.  Hillary has a huge corporate machine and Obama has a political machine that ostensibly has risen from grass roots humble beginnings

“Hillary never fails to deliver a completely balanced assortment of demographically nutritious emotions …”

One Clinton characteristic that is amplified by the lengthened primary is that she is by far a reliable and predictable pit-bull of political ambition.  Her focus is unwavering, her ability to attack and fight is admirable.  Admirable in the sense of a guard-dog, but not particularly admirable in the sense of one who is required to pilot a ship of State. One that is admirable in the sense of performing the same trick in a reliable fashion, but not particularly admirable in the ability to represent sensibilities of the shamefully abused middle-class that has been all but stomped out of existence. Stomped that is by the destructive and distracting politics that the Clinton once shunned, but now embraces.

Her demeanor is reflective of the task.  In small community settings she is soft and even lachrymal, yet when counted on to deliver a forceful message she can be Stalinesque, particularly in her gesticulation  and hand gesturing to the Heavens with authority.  Sometimes, listening to her range of emotions, we are carried off in thought to fond memories of the High School Drama Club’s endless hours in preparation of Thurber Carnival.  If nothing else, a mixed bag of emotion as  Hillary never fails to deliver a completely balanced assortment of demographically nutritious emotions selected by the Madame and her Maitres De campaign.

“While their … political affiliation is the same, their leadership style  … from this point is likely to be incredibly divergent. “

Conversely, Obama is generally consistent, but unless he’s delivering a speech that will carry 27 news cycles, the Journo-tainers are crushed.  Take the recent PA Primary concession speech.  In what period of time, in what election has any candidate been criticized for a concession speech being lack-luster?  That’s precisely the consensus the corporate media agreed to this past week.  Hillary, was covered in laissez-faire splendor even though her speech contained at least a dozen factual misrepresentations.  Hey, we’re just paraphrasing Pat Buchanan or Howard Fineman, and it isn’t limited to them.  These are no longer solely Journo-tainers, they have become political theatre critics commenting on what we can only imagine they perceive as fiction.

Chris Matthews’ and his colleagues (with the exceptions of Eugene Robinson and Rachel Maddow)  seem unclear that most of America sees Barack Obama as running against Hillary Clinton for the nomination.  While their general political affiliation is the same, their leadership style and ultimate direction from this point is likely to be incredibly divergent.  The differences in health care is minimal, but these are health care programs that were meant to familiarize the public with theory.  There is no health plan yet. Certainly not one that’s ready to be published, yet they talk about the differences in Health plans that are nothing more than smoke right now and simply meant to pass election muster.  While we have great affection for the Edwardses, they aren’t helping right now.   There is a Democratic primary going on, and while time may be of the essence, they were instructed to sit this round out by the electorate.

Barack vs. The Oligarchy : Deal or No Deal?

22 April 08, The Almost Daily Binx, San Jose, CA, by Binx101

PA Primary Underway in America’s Family-rooms

“Abandon any thoughts that this is democracy in action.”

While it is assumed that only the popular vote statewide will reign accurate today, American homes will be lit up with the glow of TV’s carrying the coverage from a variety of sources.  Sports analogies ad nauseum will be hoisted as commentary and in-depth analysis will challenge consciousness.  Yet, the simple approach will be denied since “More = Wins  / Less = Loses” is not the vehicle that will inspire folks to buy a plethora of products that drive Corporate news profits.

While not a hard and fast rule – some info-tainers will use hockey allegory and others will make comparisons via baseball.  It’s all in the demographics provided by the analysts that no-one sees inside the infotainment HQ.  But, make no mistake – this is not about the USA, this is about the US currency that is the ultimate object drawing your viewership.  Abandon any thoughts that this is Democracy in action.  That will wait until after the election and will be relegated to the heady pages of the not so profitable periodicals, Web-life and Congressional reports.  A few radio outlets can be added to the list, but with very few exceptions – they are mostly entertainment and focus on listener consensus, lest they cannot survive.  Yes, there are exceptions but they are very limited.

The Power is Not in the Electorate

“coalition-of-the-shilling.”

What ???  Unfortunately this is, for the most part, true.  The power is in the hands of the Oligarchs that essentially tell the electorate how to vote.  How to cast their ballot based on political operatives that influence the community, churches and the above-mentioned smorgasbord of media outlets.

Take ABC the during last weeks faux-debate of the Democratic opponents.  By now, any interested American with an Internet connection or a TV knows there is considerable criticism of the manner in which the debate was handled.  Our own words on the subject can be found <here.>

After the article was written it was learned that the question that George Stephanopoulos posed to Barack Obama about Mr. Ayers was actually part of the list of talking points that were provided to Right Wing Activist Promoted – Sean Hannity – a Fox News info-tainer.  Hannity is known for his promotion of Right Wing extremism and his close relationship with Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter and a variety of the coalition-of-the-shilling.  Careful examination will reveal to anyone with the time that this is a widely deployed practice.  The talking points are unmistakable and reformed “Republican Conservative Hit-man” David Brock, routinely tracks the major disinformation of the American public at Media Matters.

You know that phrase, The Most Trusted Name in News?  Forget it for now.  It has deteriorated into oblivion since it was first flown as a flag – and we helped it with a collective fixation on ourselves.

The Power is in the Power

“…self importance is the fulcrum that political charlatans use to leverage their doctrine.”

It is political operatives (now reformed David Brock tells us) that move elections by moving people’s minds in a carefully plotted direction over a period of time.

It is brainwashing.

It is programming.

It is an American political reality.

It is as difficult to detect as a dose of arsenic in an almond flavored liqueur.

Many Americans obsessed with achieving social status, whether locally among a small rural crowd or in larger economically aggressive circles, are perfect subjects.  Why else, would any responsibly minded individual spend 50K on an SUV to negotiate the parking lot of the mall, that averages 13 miles to the gallon, in an era when energy, carbon foot-print and green initiatives abound.  It is because self importance is the fulcrum that political charlatans use to leverage their doctrine.

And the Power is the Oligarchy

“… the Nation has never been less secure, including the final months of the Revolutionary War.

A hand full of people are actually controlling the game.  Even after proving that the Ohio and Florida elections were essentially rigged in the 2000; even though miscreants such as Rep. Peter King -R, NY on a drunken tear described that “others” would see to the “counting” and declared a Republican win long before polls closed.  Follow his career and the careers of long list of political operatives with marching orders in Congress.  Parties that “we” the American people empowered with thoughtless votes because someone bought us a pulled pork sandwich, or got the zoning board to change a long-standing ruling that favored us, or got a friend’s friend’s friend’s son into Annapolis or West Point.  Great guy that Pete King !

Create a need and fill the gap.  We’re very simple. We say things that are truly indicative of the oldest social rules of society.  You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours – the mainstay of simpleton compromise.  The mainstay of political compromise. An unusually dangerous practice when a Nation is in peril, a currency is in terrible danger of further devaluation; and the Nation has never been less secure, and that includes the final months of the Revolutionary War.

Hillary Clinton Endorsed by the Man That Paid 24 Million to Destroy Her???

“What experience?  Certainly not being the President’s wife.”

Perhaps it’s all just coincidence or perhaps she agreed to pardon George Bush for war crimes that are certain to be charged; or perhaps it’s just a matter of magnanimously letting bygones-be-bygones; but, doesn’t it ring particularly peculiar that Richard Mellon Scaithe (you want to see power? – try to find a picture of him – go ahead, use the google !! )- the known financial backer of the “War on the Clintons” including Whitewater, Foster, Hubbell and the “intern,” felt compelled to give her a listen ???  Did you read  his interview as he expressed that he sorta-kinda was impressed by her??  As though one meeting with his board around a table was all it took to undo a decade and half of vitriol and warfare ???  (For anyone unconvinced of the dark workings afoot – we’ll be offering a series of $100 NYC bridges and  $25 Rolex watches for sale soon on our website, and forwarding the profits to offset health care expenses for the uninsured)

It would be hard to conceive that Hillary Clinton believes that the residents of Pennsylvania are so collectively stupid that they wouldn’t suspect something of on unsavory alliance.  Yet, the Corporate Media is with few exceptions – silent on the matter.  All fist pumping aside – wasn’t it a tad suspicious when Hillary Clinton began articulating that John McCain’s experience was superior to Barack Obama??  Yet to date, not one corporate media outlet has demanded that the Clinton campaign provide data relying to her repeated claims of experience.  What experience?  Certainly not being the President’s wife.  If that were a benchmark, wouldn’t the Republicans have been more encouraged to run Laura Bush instead of McCain, who is clearly out of his mind and in the pocket of Oligarchy’s Founders Club?

The Oligarchy Antidote – Americas Youth and their Revolutionary Spirit

“A pusillanimous pipsqueak of atomic proportions that appeared in a Cameo on a TV show that depicts his style of leadership. Deal or No Deal…”

There is truly on one thing our Nation can count on right now and that is to have faith in the youth of our Country.  A youth that is not so lazy and marred.  A youth that respectfully marches off to war, even when they don’t understand. Alas, many more didn’t march off to war and among this youth our Nation will rely to grab control of a runaway train.  They’ll seek the counsel of wisdom and experience from a dwindling yet less graft susceptible bench of experience in order to help temper our collective anger; and, to tamp our disgust at our appointed President.   Disgust at his utter disregard for the many crises he’s caused around the globe, dutifully following the orders of his handlers, defiantly wearing a smirk of incomprehension as though it were a handle-bar mustache.  Proud to defy our eyes and ears; George W. Bush describes a beautiful landscape while we stare in grief at the wreckage in his wake.

A pusillanimous pipsqueak of atomic proportions that appeared in a Cameo on  a TV show that depicts his style of leadership. Deal or No Deal, missing all but the neanderthal shrugging, raised eyebrow and indiscernible breathy utterance that traditionally follows in succession near feeding time.

Much more of our youth has witnessed the mind boggling performance of the Oligarchy’s latest virtuoso, and we trust they can see the difference between smoke and mirrors, and a chance to bring America to a rehab with public service, volunteerism and reasoned discourse; as well as, abolishing the “voodoo economics” that Ronald Reagan sold us with the same lack of understanding and unbridled enthusiasm as he sold us Borax when he hosted a TV series.   A time when theatre goers rejected him yet the Oligarchs mustered the resources to support his rise as Goverenor so they could appoint him as President while the voters went through the motions.

Why The Democratic Race is Good for America

Campaigns Preview the Future

“… politicians have … acquiesced to the pleas of their children or youthful constituency and are enthusiastically supporting Obama …”

Conceivably, the American electorate (and the world), is receiving more detailed information about the candidate and prospective opposing candidates than any previous U.S. Presidential contest in World history.  Much of the information is factual, including anecdotal evidence subject to interpretation, and a significant portion is commentary, not unlike this blog.  Some of the commentary is genuine, some is cleverly veiled marketing collateral and some is frustrated and blatant vitriol.  The form has been the same for as long as mankind has been walking upright, but by sheer volume – political scientists 100 years from now may deem the shift in delivery and number of information paths, including the conversational venues provided by the Internet, as a significant improvement or a confounding impediment to traditional politics.

Currently, only a clinically delusional patriot would consider that Hillary Clinton or John McCain are competitive to Obama in his masterful communication style and skill; and moreover, the finely tuned political machinery that he has inspired from essentially grass roots seedlings.  His campaign’s ability to communicate using the Internet network of supporters, if nothing else, indicates that he has a more youthful, intellectual and dynamically connected base.  As we have seen in repeated examples, children of voting age and younger have begun to influence their parentage in supporting Obama.  More than a handful of Nationally visible elected politicians have expressed they acquiesced to the pleas of their children or youthful constituency and are enthusiastically supporting Obama.

How Does One Use The Google on the Internets?

“… her Internet debut was a broadband resounding ‘thud’…”

Both McCain and Clinton, seemed to have approached the Internet and associated technologies as some ‘new fangled fad’ in contrast to  Obama’s campaign’s adept use of technology as a key tool in order to raise money, increase visibility and promote unity among his supporters.  Considering that the youngest of our adults and their future children will bear a considerable burden from the feckless leadership of Republicans, the intrusive will of a skewed Judiciary and its appointment of a political puppet to the presidency;  it is more important than ever that they (the youngest of our adult electorate) take great heed in their choice for the next President of our economically challenged, globally scorned and socially damaged United States of America.

Hillary wanted to have the great conversation – except – she isn’t a particularly good listener – and may even be a worse public speaker.  Her adoption of finger pointing is reminiscent of Saturday Night Fever and her speaking cadence is uninspiring, if not aurally disturbing.  The continuous head-nodding is more reflective of equine behavior rather than an indication that she is listening and is ultimately amateurish at best.  Her campaigning quips and spoken word are just short of torture and obliterate any message she may have – her comedic timing is unnatural – and her anecdotes are unskillfully delivered.  This may be in great contrast to her intellect and intentions, but her sophomoric communication skills are challenging, beyond political differences.  Likewise her Internet debut was a broadband resounding ‘thud’ and seemed more like it was using the Internet as little television sets.  There was no conversation, but rather a premiering of popular issues of the next campaign stop as perceived by her advance team.

Is this a Foyer or a Lobby?

“… because the party leadership needed a stooge …”

John McCain – just short of referring to the ‘Internets’ doesn’t exhibit that he actually has a clue about much of anything Internet.  Not unlike Hillary Clinton’s team,  the McCain campaign is replete with a complement of lobbyists that have a direct connection to recent activity, including the DOD’s selection of a European based Boeing competitor as the next recipient of a Billions of US Dollars in order to build the next version of the flying tanker. The scant amount of young people that seem to support McCain appear to telegraph involuntary servitude as opposed to the enthusiasm that typifies political campaigns.  The more mature supporters in concert with McCain are easily confused with the Washington Mutual television ads that feature a group of senior citizens in dire need of a nap.

It is inconceivable that any young adult, with unrestricted access to their own conscience, could support John McCain based on his record, his cantankerous demeanor or his battle with a consistent message.  His communication skills, while a shade more refined than Hillary Clinton,  can induce spontaneous narcolepsy. Mostly, they are continuous checklists of items, peppered with “my friends” and generally uninspiring platitudes.  We feel strongly that McCain doesn’t actually have a bland speaking style but rather has nothing to say.  When he does shoot from the hip, it appears the gun remains holstered and he fires at his foot – so – he more safely chooses to say nothing.  The press, unfairly criticized for not challenging McCain – hasn’t even done their warm-ups yet.  We predict he will begin planning a new career as a lobbyist before the actual November election.  He’s the Republican’s choice to pose as a legitimate candidate, because the party leadership needed a stooge, and the other candidates weren’t willing to take one for the team.

Will the Real Candidate Please Stand-up?

POVERTY CZAR ?

Hillary Clinton can’t leave the campaign trail or she’s finished politically forever because of all the investment that has been poured into her campaign through the NY Democratic machine as well as the Clinton turbine run by Bill.  She has to see it through – she can lose successfully – but if she quits, she’s toast. Which suggests why Bill Clinton is so determined and reckless.  We’re not suggesting that they aren’t generous people and good Democrats (whatever that means) but just think NAFTA and all the reinvention of the rationale and it paints a different picture of the vision of the Clinton brand.  Just think Health-care and how the conversation was converted into Insurance, not to mention the fact that Hillary was incapable of building a team to support her in the White House basement trying to solve the health-care problem because she rejected open discussion.  And then top that with a term right out of the Bush-Cheney playbook – POVERTY CZAR ?

“… unimportant to a man …. acknowledges that he’s the Republican Party shill ….”

John McCain, with his supercilious speech in front of the motel where the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was murdered, seemed more like a spoof than a reality.  A non-apology apology that was not only sleep inducing but nauseating in its saccharine incredulity. How it wasn’t met with the crowd abandoning him mid-platitude to get Carmel Macchiatos at Starbucks suggests to a reasonable mind that they were paid to sit there.  McCain has managed to turn the phrase “my friends” with his unique intonation, into a pejorative.  Not a uniting force, not a maverick, not a critical thinker – but rather one of the bag men for the Keating Five.  A man so detached from the crucial financial problems in our country that he waves Phil Gramm, one of the architects of the current sub-prime mortgage debacle as an economic adviser and co-chair of his campaign.  That’s not heroic, that’s idiotic – or – unimportant to a man who in doing so, acknowledges that he’s the Republican Party shill for the next election cycle.

We think Obama’s decision reflected a sober decision of an intellectual American President.

Barack Obama, while not without challenges, seems mostly plagued by his opponents arguing with themselves about his positions.  He has not made a habit of overreacting, although we are particularly disappointed that he accepted Samantha Powers’ resignation, albeit that may have been a more shrewd tactic than we understand. He has though, risen to every obstacle in an effective manner and his team has been very particular about timing and venue.  Even though Prof. Cornell West (whom we like very much) disagreed with Obama’s decision to avoid Memphis this past week, we believe it served to put the focus on the other two candidates lip-service and pandering and put the corporate media in a quandary over how to cover the events.  Mostly, it left them with little spin, because it was difficult to conceal the fact that Clinton and McCain came off looking almost foolish.  We think Obama’s decision reflected a sober decision of an intellectual American President.

We are confident that this extended race is, in fact, the best potential vetting process, and will ultimately result in a greater number of Americans being able to discern fact from fiction and participate in the healing of our critically ill Nation and elevate the American Spirit.

But perhaps tax returns aren’t the only issue. Perhaps the Hillary McCain alliance was built long ago as plan B. Here’s our brief overview:

Hillary: McCain better than Obama

February 3, Fox News allegedly innocently manipulates McCain and Hillary into speaking with each other

Bill Clinton from NYT Political Blog – The Caucus – Full 25 Jan 08 Article Here – “She and John McCain are very close,” he said. “They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history and they’re afraid they’d put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other.”

Hillary McCain – It’s The Patty Duke Show

pattydu4.jpgjohnhill.jpg pattycathy.jpg

We were incredibly moved by the unity of John McCain and Hillary Clinton. Then it dawned on us – two of a kind ??

Meet Cathy, who’s lived most everywhere,
From Zanzibar to Barclay Square.
But Patty’s only seen the sights
A girl can see from Brooklyn Heights —
What a crazy pair!

But they’re cousins,
Identical cousins all the way.
One pair of matching bookends,
Different as night and day.

Where Cathy adores a minuet,
The Ballet Russes, and crepe suzette,
Our Patty loves to rock and roll,
A hot dog makes her lose control —
What a wild duet!

Still, they’re cousins,
Identical cousins and you’ll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike —
You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

Our Sincere Apologies

We were unable cope with any Democrat aiding and abetting the Hillary Clinton campaign for reaching so far into the pandering bag after realizing that Obama was very attractive to swing voters. Additionally she has intimated that she has already been President, a close confidant during decision making times, and has been a steward of the people’s trust – therefore tested. Apparently, her sole commitment to deliver a health-care solution in the last decade was a total bust – done in the dark – and to NO avail … but we digress.

Our apology is for having some fun with an issue that is not at funny. That being said – we were unable to produce any written word that wasn’t apparently hate filled and offensive and further damage to the seriously wounded Democratic message. We decided instead, to chill … and have a brief chortle. We hope you did too.
